The Radar is our take on the classic “import” guitars of the 1960s, when manufacturers around the world put their own spin on popular American designs. A vintage-style deep tenon neck joint, 24.75" scale, and 12" radius give it a familiar feel, with a solid, resonant response and a slightly warmer mid-range character.

The Radar Classic pairs our P.A.F.-style V.O. humbuckers with a Stoptail/ABR-1 bridge and a lightweight mahogany body and neck. The humbuckers are voiced for a clear top end, focused midrange, and responsive attack, giving the Radar a balanced vintage humbucker sound that remains articulate with more gain. Fretboard and headstock binding, along with small block inlays, complete the deluxe appointments. The result is a timeless, well-balanced guitar with a distinctly vintage-inspired voice and the consistency, playability, and attention to detail you expect from a modern Frank Brothers instrument.

Our V.O. humbuckers are a collaboration with legendary Canadian pickup winder Tim McNelly and have a perfect balance of sizzle, clarity, and mid-range that you expect from a exceptional P.A.F humbucker.

After over a decade of building guitars at Frank Brothers, we’ve tested just about every type of humbucker—authentic P.A.F.s, high-end modern replicas, vintage DiMarzios, and custom shop clones. That journey led us to create our own: the V.O. Humbuckers, a refined synthesis of everything we love about great humbucker tone.

Wound with vintage correct 42-gauge enamel wire, and left unpotted for maximum sensitivity, dynamics, and vintage tone.

Dovetailed V Joint Headstock

Our signature Dovetailed V-Joint headstock is a detail that blends traditional craftsmanship with purposeful engineering. Rather than relying on a simple scarf joint or one-piece neck, the headstock is joined using an interlocking dovetailed V-shaped joint that creates an exceptionally strong mechanical connection while showcasing the precision of its construction.

Like many aspects of a Frank Brothers guitar, it's a thoughtful refinement of a traditional idea—designed to last a lifetime while celebrating the craft behind the instrument.

Custom Hardshell Case

Every Frank Brothers guitar includes a Canadian made custom hardshell case. The exterior is covered in mottled dark brown Tolex, a multi-shaded vinyl inspired by the coverings found on many vintage instrument cases. Inside, the case is lined with plush crushed red velvet and features a large accessory compartment. A matching padded dark brown handle provides a comfortable grip, while the rigid construction offers dependable protection whether you're traveling to a gig or storing your instrument at home.
